This intimate tale of immigration and belonging is set against dramatic times and is told with subtle performances and a theatrical magic that take the breath away.

make your fortune. Then and only then can you return.'

by Michel Robidoux, Yves Dubé, Normand Canac-Marquis and Daniel Meilleur
Travelling the world with a touring theatrical production, two actors muse about what they are witnessing: Some major historical events as well as various simple everyday happenings. Their lives will be transformed as a result. Together, they come to understand that, for them, art is of the utmost importance and that there is, in truth, a "life after life", the life of others. Tel-Aviv, Verona, San Jose, Nizhny Novgorod, Da Nan, Berlin, Beijing, Madrid, New York, Kinshasa, Montreal . . . As the pages of these Notes from The Journey Home are turned, they reveal the stages of a passage from self awareness to an awareness of others. A work that will transport you.

Living Memory continues its remarkable worldwide career, touring already for six years, having visited over 75 cities in 13 countries, and winning still the hearts of young and old alike.
A woman who is now 100 years old (and a speck) takes us on a journey through her lifetime. In a series of touching tableaux, in which old toys are revisited and her memories are captured through magical multimedia effects, we are told the story of a life lived. Living Memory casts a serene gaze over memories and the passing of time, reminding us that the game of life is short that should be played to its fullest.
Written by Normand Canac-Marquis and directed by Daniel Meilleur, Living Memory celebrates with poetry both visual and musical, the human imagination and the joy of being alive.

{THIS PRODUCTION HAS BEEN RETIRED}
Thirty years after her painful decision to leave, a mother’s love leads her to reconnect with the daughter she had abandoned, explaining in a letter how she had also abandoned her native country then being torn apart by a civil war. Her lover had become the “enemy”, only to become a deserter, and she had become a member of the “resistance”. This civil strife tore the lover’s lives asunder, maiming them both physically and emotionally so that once peace returned, they chose escape from their unbearable reality.
Within a constantly changing visual environment created by an ingenious use of shadow-work, video projections, props, and lighting, three actors, including a mezzo-soprano, perform this operatic drama that sets the inception of a couple’s love within an environment of deadly conflict. A story of love and survival, Leitmotiv is an imaginative and poetic testimony to the forces at play in life and death… and love.
Since its creation at the end of the 1990s during the war in Kosovo, Leitmotiv has inspired and deeply touched both audiences and critics in over 70 cities in 20 countries around the world, from Korea to Israel to China to Russia to Colombia.
Leitmotiv is a work of universal resonance, a timely reflection on the enduring power of love and also on the ravages of war that remain a tragic reality of our times.
The farewell tour of Leitmotiv will take place in the 2008-09 season, at the end of which this production will be retired from the company’s active repertoire.

"The body is 70% water; the rest is memories."
The happiness of a young couple and their six-year old son is shattered when the airplane carrying them crashes in the remote ice fields of the Great North. The father, an eminent scientist, is the only survivor of the tragedy. As he awakens from a 2,191-day coma, he comes face to face with the price he has had to pay to continue living. In a world where species are constantly disappearing, will the prolonging of his life by medical means give him back the reasons for living that he lost when his wife and son died?
Recent discoveries allow science to counter diseases, to prolong and even to program life. However, the question remains as to whether these new technologies guarantee happiness. In this seemingly futuristic multimedia tale, human beings are driven by a fantasy of self-perpetuation where the body, given over to the wonders of science, is supposedly safe from the whims of fate. 2,191 nights questions the human desire to push the limits of mortality and, ultimately, of death itself.
This new adult production of Les Deux Mondes follows in the spirit of previous works by the company, proposing a non-judgmental theatrical reflection on highly topical issues. It offers the audience a strikingly and poetically beautiful show in which the magic of technology simply enhances the emotional experience.
